The knock card in this hand is the 5 of spades. In that case I would have lost 25 points which he would receive as a bonus for undercutting. Reviewing the hand in the post mortem time, it is apparent that if the game had gone longer and I had picked up the outstanding 7, enabling me to knock with one (using my 3 as a discard), my opponent would have laid off his deuce and undercut me by equaling my knock of one.

Deducting his 3 from this, I lose 15 points on the hand and it’s my deal. After melding my queens and deuces, I am left with two 7s, a 3 and an Ace, adding up to 18 points. His hand contains two spreads: four 9s and four 4s, affording me no layoffs.
